Come now to Jesus just as you are. We don’t have to change ourselves to come closer to Him. He knows us inside out, He knows our thoughts, He knows our heart, He knows our intentions, we cannot hide anything from Him and He doesn’t hold any of that against us. He waits for us with open arms.

We just need to come to Him whether we think we are ready or not. We can never change ourselves by our own efforts, we need God to help us come out of our sinful ways. If we think that we will first try and cleanse our ways ourselves or wait for us to grow old and then come to Him, we are absolutely in the wrong direction. God died for our sins and rose victoriously proving to us that there is an eternal life for us, much better than what we can expect in this world. He has done more than enough for us, now it is up to us to go to Him.

Zacchaeus (Luke 19: 1-10) didn’t think that he would cleanse himself and then go to God, but He just acted on God’s invitation and then did what was right. We too should go to God just as we are and He will help us become better. We try too hard to do it ourselves but forget that there is a creator who created us, He will be able to do it in a much better and an unfathomable way.

A similar example would be of the thief on the cross next to Jesus who was saved right at that moment (Luke 23:39-43). It does not matter who we were, all that matters is if we want to understand the love of Jesus, who poured out His blood on that cross for us. He has done everything for us and we can neither do anything nor are we worthy of doing anything. All we can do is come to Him and offer Him our hearts.

Let us just come to our Saviour irrespective of whether we think we are ready or not.
