Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working

You never stop, You never stop working

Recently in one of our Bible studies we were discussing John 5 and how the Jewish leaders were persecuting Jesus as he was not ‘keeping the sabbath’ by healing the sick on the Lord’s day. To which Jesus replied –

In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” – John 5:17

We often feel that why is God resting, why is God not doing anything. There is so much violence happening in the world, injustice happening in our own lives and in the lives of people around us. Why is this benevolent God supposedly keeping mum in the face of our sufferings?

What we do not realize and what Jesus states so beautifully in John chapter 5 is that God is always at work. We might not see his works or feel his presence but he has not stopped working since the beginning of time. No sick leaves or paid vacations.

The deceiver brings things to our attention that will cause us to doubt the intentions or perhaps even the existence of our God. He will want us to take a different route and not come to our father with all our problems. Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper and the light in the darkness that is who God is and let us not be deceived with the tricks of the deceiver telling us otherwise.
